Today, we are taking the long and bumpy ride to the Paint Rock Lakes. Paint Rock Lakes were one of my Dad’s favorite places and I had never been (at least not that I can remember).
The lakes are at a super high elevation and we had about a 30 degree temperature drop before we got to them. We made this drive on July 9, 2019 and you can see in the video the we are visited by snow/sleet.
We spent some time driving very slowly since some of the roads were terrible. There was even a sign that warned about hazardous roads. It took us most of the day to drive approximately 65 to 70 miles. But, we did see some gorgeous countryside and a few wild animals including deer and moose. We saw very few people.

We stayed here at the Reel Livin’ Resort and Campground for 7 days since we had family staying in one of the cabins. The girls had fun fishing and spending time with them. Come take a look.

Our home-base is in an area of Texas that does not normally get any snow. Well, on January 10, 2021, we got over 4 inches. We were able to go sledding on some of the hills on the ranch. Then, we all had fun getting a little crazy on the ATVs (4wheelers or quads).
We love going to the Hot Springs State Park and the Hellie’s TeePee Pools in Thermopolis, Wyoming whenever we are in the area. It is billed as the world’s largest mineral hot springs.
The 3.6 million gallons of water comes out of the natural hot spring at 127 degrees and goes through several cooling ponds before it makes it’s way into the bath house and the swimming pools. The water that goes into the hot tubs at 104 degrees. The water contains 27 different minerals and truly seems to have healing powers. All aches and pains seem to disappear for months after being submerged in this water for only an hour.
