Cheboygan Gordon Turner Park

Dad and Elizabeth took a nice stop by Cheboygan Gordon Turner Park.
According to Dad and Elizabeth, this place is “infested” with mosquitoes. They also got some nice lighthouse pictures.
The water at Lake Huron was cold, my toes had “migraines” lol.
I gotta say Lake Huron, you are one pretty cold and cool lake.

Elizabeth and Dad said “if you come in around in June, bring bug spray or some kinda bug repellent”.

There is nothing we didn’t like about Cheboygan and that is the mosquitoes, they were literally everywhere.

Week In Review (Season 3 Week 21)

This week was another busy week.

Dad “surprised” Elizabeth with B.Brian Preserve. You might be wondering what is this “B.Brian Preserve”. Well, I have the answer to your question, its a place with zebras, antelope, and giraffes 🦒. The place is breeding these animals to re-introduce them to Africa.

Then we slowly make our way to Glass Beach. Rumor has it you can’t keep the glass from the beach. History time children, so a bunch of people were throwing trash and glass on this beach 50 years ago. The water pulled the glass and stuff out and when it “spit” it back out it would hit the rocks and some how smooth the edges of the glass so now you can walk on it and not cut yourself.

Then we moved onto, One Log House. In my opinion, you would have to worry about mold and stuff but it was cool. It is just like a tiny house or a tiny RV with no slides.

Gone Tubing at Alcova Lake

Today we are hanging out with Dad’s cousin Paul and he took us to Alcova Lake! We also had the pleasure of trying something new…Tubing! Amber was the only one, besides Dad, who actually went tubing. It was a super fun day and we all enjoyed it! We will definitely have to go tubing again!

Week In Review (Season 3 Week 20)

This week was a busy week.

First, we went to Avenue of the Giants. This place was full of HUGE Redwoods trees to be exact. We even bought a Sequoia redwood to take home to plant. We even played Tarzan lol. I only know of one Redwood tree and that’s the Sequoia. Knowing me, I was probably told but I forgot lol. I gotta say, Avenue of the Giants you didn’t let us down.

Later that week we went to Trees of Mystery. This place was really cool. We took a tram up to the top deck. We could even see the ocean from that deck.

Anyway, we then continue off to Klamath Tour Thru Tree. Now this place was REALLY cool, we can’t fit the truck in there but we manage to get part of the front of it in there.

As we continue down the road we went to this “cheese place” (a cheese factory). There are so many different cheeses out there I didn’t even know about.

Then our last destination was the cemetery. From what it looked like, the people there were from like the 1800s.

Like I said “this week was REALLY busy”.

Thumbs Up Antelope Island

Today we are hanging out with some more family members and visiting Antelope Island. Fun fact, the island doesn’t actually have any antelope on the island, only buffalo! The island was actually in the middle of the Great Salt Lake. It had amazing views but was HOT! You should take a visit if you are near.

How-To Clean The Ice Machine

Today, we are cleaning our ice machine! Since we’ve had it for a while now and used it a lot, we noticed that it had started to get really dirty. Not sure if it was stuff from the air or if stuff had started growing in the machine from the water.

Anyway, we had to take it apart. We took many different approaches, but must of them didn’t end up working. In the end we finally figured it out and it was actually simpler than expected. The longest part was trying to take the machine apart, since we didn’t exactly know what we were doing.

But, all in all, we got it apart and it was dirtier than we expected! We used vinegar water to clean it because we didn’t want to use soap, just in case some soap got left behind. Who would want to use soapy ice? NOT ME!

Then we had to put it all back together which was rather quick! For safe measures we ran some vinegar water through the machine to get any dirt or potential mold out of the pipes. Took about 3 to 4 batches of ice to get ride of all the vinegar water, but we did and now the ice machine looks and acts brand new!

Week In Review (Season 3 Week 19)

First, we went to the Sea Lion Caves.
This place was really cool looking at all the sea lions.
I loved this place so much I even drew a “cowboy sea lion” when we got back to the house.

Then we moved on to the Depoe Bay whale watching place.
We even caught a tail on video… yay.
The boat ride was really cool, we got to not only see whales but jellyfish too.

We also took a stop by West Coast Game Park Safari.
We got to feed and pet many different animals.
I got a kick outta watching the bears wave when you shake your food cone at them.

The campgrounds were clean and quiet.
The Alder Dune Campground was basically empty. There was no one but us, the camp host, and one other person.
The Cape Blanco Campground filled up really fast every night but that aside, this was a really nice campground.

Shoshone Ice Caves

Welcome to Shoshone Ice Caves.

This ice cave is really cool and historical place to see.

A young boy discovered this ice cave.

In the 1880s, the cave was an ice source for the town of Shoshone.
They shipped the ice out west. Inside the ice cave it has a slick wet board “bridge” to get down to the back of the cave.

The cave has about 5 feet of ice below you so you can’t break it.

It was about $32 for Dad, Amber, Elizabeth, and me Kaylla to get in there. It was really fun to explore.

HOW-TO RV Cutting Board Stove Topper

Today, we are creating our own stove cover, a cutting board stove cover! We decided to remove our original one since when we put things like our instant pot on top of it, the cover would bend. So we bought a bamboo cutting board that was made to slide into cabinet. BUT, we gave it a different purpose. It was a fairly simple build and a better stove topper. We use it for cutting our vegetables on too! This was really simple and made things easier on us who work in the kitchen.

Stokes State Park New Jersey

Today we are visiting Stokes State Park in New Jersey! This park had free artisan water and some hiking trails, I think. The trees were amazing! They twisted and turned and grew out of each other, it was like something you would see in a movie! It was an amazing trip and definitely worth it!
