We Added A Brighter Stove Light

Posted on December 9, 2021 by Rick Posted in How-To .

We added a brighter light above our stove. It is a 12 volt RV porch light.

We installed it with magnets so that we did not need to drill holes into the hood.

2014 Polaris Sportsman 550 Touring Oil Change Procedure

Posted on January 31, 2021 by Rick Posted in How-To .

We show you today how we change the oil and filter on our 2014 Polaris Sportsman 550 Touring EFS.

We encountered problems with the original filter being a little bigger than the new one. We purchased an oil filter wrench specifically for this and it was too small. Apparently, the original oil filter was made by Subaru and was slightly larger. We show you how we got past this issue.

We are definitely not experts and we simply provide these videos as entertainment and as an example of how we do things on our own. This is not professional advice.

How-to Replace Dometic 300 Series RV Toilet Flush Ball Seal

Posted on April 22, 2020 by Rick Posted in How-To .

Recently, our RV toilet has not been holding water when not in use. This can allow smells to enter the camper. Lucky for us, we did not get to this point.

We replaced this toilet about a year ago and it is common to need to replace the seal once a year. I guess that since we live in it full-time, this contributed to need it a little early.

The replacement was super easy but you just need to be careful to not drop the seal into the black tank. This will eventually cause an issue when you try to drain the tanks.

We found these off brand seals in a 2 pack on Amazon for a lot less than the name brand.

How we installed our WeBoost Cellular 4G Booster

Posted on March 4, 2020 by Amber Posted in How-To .

Today, we are installing our WeBoost 4G Booster. The install was a fairly simple, climb on your roof, drill some holes and run some wires. It’s more in depth than that. We had to buy/make some stuff to raise the booster and lower it, so we could get a good signal. On the roof, I think it was harder than it was inside when we were installing the booster. All in all, we got it done and the internet works much, much better.

Replace RV Ceiling Vent Fan with a Fantastic Fan

Posted on February 12, 2020 by Amber Posted in Scenery, Sightseeing .

Today, we are installing a Fantastic Fan! Our camper came with this tiny fan in our bathroom, and it had finally quit working after a while. So we outed our fan off Amazon (links below) and installed it ourselves. I kinda like to think of us as those handyman’s you call when the A-Team is unavailable, the A+ Team is what we are, LOL. The installation went smoothly, it was just the old fan removal we had a problem with, and that was because we were trying not to tear the rubber roof. All in all, it was a pretty simple and fast job.

RV Renovation To Add Shelves

Posted on January 8, 2020 by Amber Posted in How-To .

Today, we are adding some more shelves to the bunk house. We decided since we don’t use the bed on the back wall, so we converted it to a shelf. The conversion was fairly simple, we bought plywood and some smoothed surfaced plywood for the shelves. We measured the bed dimensions of the bed and then cut the wood so it would fit the bed properly. We came up with a design then basically just built the shelves. The shelves help with the storage, so that’s a plus!

HOW-TO: Install Bunk Bed Shelves

Posted on December 11, 2019 by Amber Posted in How-To .

Today, Amber and Rick built some shelves to go along with the new bed they also built. The “bed” Amber used to sleep in was a jack-knife couch which turned into a bed when you folded it down. Amber and Rick took the couch out to build the new bed. They also decided to make some shelves since they had room. The shelves had to be secured to the slide wall, so they didn’t get any “fancy” ideas, LOL! The shelves also couldn’t be very thick or else there wouldn’t have been enough room for the mattress. So with all these things in mind, they successfully built a “functioning” shelf! It is now painted a Granite Grey and holds enough of Amber’s stuff!

Mission: Accomplished

How-To Clean The Ice Machine

Posted on November 13, 2019 by Amber Posted in How-To .

Today, we are cleaning our ice machine! Since we’ve had it for a while now and used it a lot, we noticed that it had started to get really dirty. Not sure if it was stuff from the air or if stuff had started growing in the machine from the water.

Anyway, we had to take it apart. We took many different approaches, but must of them didn’t end up working. In the end we finally figured it out and it was actually simpler than expected. The longest part was trying to take the machine apart, since we didn’t exactly know what we were doing.

But, all in all, we got it apart and it was dirtier than we expected! We used vinegar water to clean it because we didn’t want to use soap, just in case some soap got left behind. Who would want to use soapy ice? NOT ME!

Then we had to put it all back together which was rather quick! For safe measures we ran some vinegar water through the machine to get any dirt or potential mold out of the pipes. Took about 3 to 4 batches of ice to get ride of all the vinegar water, but we did and now the ice machine looks and acts brand new!
