We were staying on the beach next to the water when a storm began approaching. We were lucky enough to find this campground.

Is The Earth Flat? – REVIEW Jack’s Seafood

Posted on July 14, 2021 by Rick Posted in Restaurant Reviews .

We decided that we wanted to eat on the pier and we found Jack’s Seafood. The food was expensive but it was also delicious and worth the price.

Outside of Jack’s Seafood was a world map that we joke about proving the earth was flat. Or was it like a donut?

We would go here again when we are in Eureka, California again.

REVIEW Manchester Beach KOA

Posted on May 26, 2021 by Rick Posted in Campgrounds .

We chose Manchester Beach KOA mostly because it was the only place available on the coast in the area that we wanted to stop. There were other campgrounds but none had sites available for larger campers. In case you have not figured it out yet, we do not plan too far in advance.

This KOA had some really strange looking trees that are stunning. Elizabeth said the one of them reminds her of the monster in the TV series Stranger Things.

We were here at the end of the tourist season and the place was fairly empty most of the time.

Be careful driving here with a bigger rig/camper. Their website says to to come over one of the mountain passes due to a steep grade. Well, driving down Highway 1 is really winding road and our trailer bumper dragged a couple times on some of the sharp corners. There are many pullout spots where you can see the coast so pay attention to the road. It is a long drop-off.

REVIEW Redwood Coast Resort

Posted on May 19, 2021 by Rick Posted in Campgrounds .

We were visiting Eureka, California because we wanted to see Mom’s aunt and uncle that live there.

The plan was to stay at the fairgrounds but… let’s just say that we did not feel safe.

Her aunt suggested the old KOA but she did not know the name. A quick search found Redwood Coast Cabins and RV Resort. And like all RV resorts, there is more to do but the sites are so tiny.

The staff was so nice. We planned to stay 3 nights and decided to stay another 3 nights. They suggested making it a week total and applied the first 3 nights to the weekly price. Most places will not do this.

It is a good location to branch out and see many of the local tourist attractions.

REVIEW Cape Blanco Campground

Posted on May 12, 2021 by Rick Posted in Campgrounds .

We are so glad that we decided to stay at Cape Blanco State Park Campground. We chose it based on the distance from our last stop and the fact that there is a lighthouse. It so beautiful.

There is a beach access point but it is a long walk. We drove to the beach but could not get our big truck past the rocks and driftwood in order to drive on the beach. We could have made it but our truck is too long to make the tight turns. Hehe… we tried.

The campground is very nice and most of the sites have privacy. Several sites will allow larger campers with ease. Each site has electric and water but no sewer. The only negative part is that the dump station is permanently closed. It is an older system that no longer meets California guidelines. You can dump at Humbug Mountain State Park that is not too far away south.

REVIEW Alder Dune Campground

Posted on May 5, 2021 by Rick Posted in Boondocking, Campgrounds .

We found Alder Dune Campground in the Siuslaw National Forest and thought it would be near some sand dunes along the coast. Well, it all depends on how you define “near”. In this case, the campground has a 2 mile trail that leads to the dunes and the shoreline. We drove into Florence to access the beach.

The campground was really quiet. We were there at the end of the season. There were quite a few day use visitors daily especially on the weekend.

The location is great if you are wanting to visit any of the nearby tourist locations or want to drive along the coast. The views are amazing.

Harvest Hosts Review – Louisburg Cider Mill – MOO-ville Creamery

Posted on March 9, 2021 by Rick Posted in Boondocking, RV Living .

This is our review of Harvest Hosts.

Harvest Hosts is a membership program that allows people traveling in an RV to have a safe place to stop overnight without having a high cost to simply park. Although the overnight stay is generally free, there are no hookups. This means no electricity, no water, and no sewer. It is a common courtesy to purchase something from the business to say thanks for their kindness but it is not required.

Harvest Hosts currently has over 1500 hosts that include wineries, breweries, farms, museums and more. This videos shows 2 locations that we stayed at as a way to demonstrate the types of places you can expect to see.

REVIEW Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant – Casper Wyoming

Posted on February 10, 2021 by Rick Posted in Restaurant Reviews .

We were visiting family in Casper, Wyoming and decided to try this Mexican restaurant. It was near closing time and my nephew was delayed coming from the airport. The staff was very accommodating as he got the right at closing time.

We still had a great meal and enjoyed ourselves without feeling rushed. The food was pretty good and the serving sizes were a nice size compared to the price.

We would be pleased to visit Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant again the next time we are in Casper, Wyoming.

This is part of our Season 3 Part 2 and was filmed in the second half of 2019.
